Turquoise is an ancient gemstone and has been found in tombs as far back as 3000 BC. It's sky- blue/green colour has made it stand the test of time through the ages and it is still a popular gemstone in modern culture as it was in ancient cultures.
Turquoise is said to protect the wearer and allow you to enjoy life, it is also said to bring good luck.
Turquoise varies in colour from sky blue to green, the blue colours come from copper and the green from iron. So the colour may vary depending upon mineral deposits in different areas. Turquoise often has veins and spots of brown/black or light grey crystals that occurs naturally.
Turquoise can over time change colour due to exposure to perspiration, cosmetics, oils even heat and sunlight may cause turquoise to change colour. It is a good idea to clean your turquoise jewellery with a soft cloth from time to time to help protect it.
